Why pregnant women are increasingly put on the save to the hospital

Most pregnant women are extremely negative about the prospect of spending several weeks in the hospital. However, there are situations when bed rest and constant supervision of doctors is necessary. The reasons for hospitalization can be very different, but all the measures taken by the doctors are caused by their desire to protect the pregnant woman from miscarriages or complicated births.

First trimester

The main cause of hospitalization during the first months of pregnancy is severe toxicosis. Many women stoically endure this unpleasant disease, continuing to go to work regularly and trying to live in a familiar rhythm. But neglecting one's health is dangerous: against the background of frequent vomiting, a metabolic disorder or dehydration can begin. The only way out can only be inpatient treatment with intravenous administration of supporting drugs.
Another common cause for hospitalization is the threat of miscarriage, since it is really difficult to preserve a pregnancy in the short run. That is why pregnant women who have found uterine tone, pain in the sacrum or lower abdomen, bleeding should immediately report these problems to the gynecologist who is leading the pregnancy. Probably, the doctor will insist on inpatient treatment.

Second trimester

During this period, one of the causes of miscarriage may be premature cervical dilatation or isthmic-cervical insufficiency. In a hospital setting, a doctor may stitch the neck or place a special ring on it to keep the pregnancy.
Some pregnant women have placental insufficiency, which can cause fetal hypoxia in the fetus. Sometimes the placenta tissue grows more slowly than the machine uterus, then there is placental abruption. This condition can trigger bleeding that threatens both the life of the mother and the life of the child. All problems with the placenta require immediate treatment in the hospital or constant supervision by a gynecologist.

Third trimester

Many expectant mothers spend the last months of pregnancy in the hospital. The cause may be preeclampsia - "late toxicosis" of pregnant women. Progressive swelling, increased pressure, the appearance of protein in the urine are dangerous symptoms that will alert any physician and force him to put the pregnant woman into hospital for retention.
Pyelonephritis (or inflammation of the kidneys) is one of the common "sores" of pregnant women. Most often it is possible to cope with it due to the use of diuretic drugs, antispasmodics, regular positional gymnastics, but in especially severe cases hospitalization is not possible.
Hypertonicity of the uterus can cause premature labor, especially dangerous during long periods of pregnancy. If it is not possible to remove it with improvised means, in the hospital for treatment use stronger antispasmodics, which stabilize the pregnant woman and help her to inform the baby, to give birth to a healthy one and in time.
