What Did You Do With Your Wedding Rings?
I was talking with a widower friend of mine this weekend, and he's made the choice to finally move his wedding ring over to other hand. I offered him my sincere sympathy and I told him I couldn't imagine the pain of that decision. When I took my rings off, the only emotion I recall having was disgust. Once I discovered proof of Peter's disrespect of our wedding vows, those rings were lies, as far as I was concerned. I couldn't bear to wear them and look at them and be reminded of all that they didn't symbolize anymore. In my friend's case, his wedding band still represents a promise that he'd still keep if he could. My heart goes out to him.
I still have my wedding rings. I'd sell them if I thought I'd get good money for them (we weren't earning much then, so they're not worth a lot). I've decided instead to keep them for Anna. The band is stylized and would look great all by itself, and maybe she can get the ring re-set into a pendant or something. She deserves some reminders that we did love each other once.
