Raw diamond went under the hammer for $ 63 million

In the jewelry world they are discussing the sale of the most expensive rough diamond at the moment. The Constellation stone, found by the Canadian company Lucara Mining in the existing Karowa diamond mine in Botswana last fall (and called as “a century diamond”), was sold the day before for an unthinkable $ 63 million (and Lucara retained the right to profit from the sale treated stone). The weight of the stone was 813 carats (to understand - it weighs more than 162 grams).

Prior to that, Cullinan, discovered in South Africa in 1905 and divided into nine parts (most of which can be found in the jewelry collection of the royal family of Britain), was considered the most expensive diamond.
