Incredibly appetizing snack: all you need is a large onion, some flour and seasonings.
Have you ever tried onion rings in batter? Usually they are sold in the networks of fast food restaurants, but at home they can be easily repeated. Today we suggest you try a slightly different, although similar in taste to the dish - roasted onion flower. This is the same fried onion in batter, only the final dish looks incredibly beautiful - see for yourself:
To make roasted onion flower, take the following ingredients:
- large onions (the larger the onions, the larger and more beautiful the flower will be);
- milk 1 cup;
- 1 egg;
- flour 1 cup;
- spices (cayenne pepper, paprika, black pepper, oregano, cumin, salt);
- sunflower oil (for deep-frying).
1. The first step is to prepare the onion. To do this, take the largest, peel, carefully cut the tails (from the bottom of the bow should hold tight, not falling apart).
2Then carefully cut the onion with a sharp knife in half, then again in half. Cut not to the end, leaving about 0.5-1 cm to keep the design. Continue cutting until about 14–18 slices are obtained (more). Then carefully cut out the middle part (not to the end) to get a flower.
3. For a minute, dip the onion in boiling water, then in ice-cold water for two minutes. This must be done to remove the bitterness and help the bulb to open.
4. Prepare a batter: beat the milk with an egg in one container, and in the second - flour with spices. The proportions may be as follows - for 1 cup of flour is taken:
- 1 tsp cayenne pepper;
- 1 tsp paprika;
- 1/2 tsp. black pepper;
- 1/3 tsp. oregano;
- 1/8 tsp cumin.
Everything should be thoroughly mixed.
5. Dip the onion into the milk-egg mixture, then into the flour. Try to make the whole onion, including the area inside, covered with flour and spices. Repeat the procedure 2-3 times.
6. After that, you can send onion in heated oil, where it will be fried in deep fat for about 8-10 minutes.
