The operation of induction type boilers is based on the principle of conversion of electric current into thermal energy. Their design provides a special device - an inductor (transformer) with two windings. The eddy currents arising from the supply of electricity to the boiler, affect the short-circuited loop, which also plays the role of the body. The created energy supply is transferred to the secondary winding, which immediately converts it into heat and transfers it to the coolant. In this case, the device is equipped with two nozzles: one of them is designed to supply the cooled coolant, and the second - the outlet is already hot.

Thus, we can distinguish the following stages of the induction boiler:

  1. Water (or other coolant) enters the boiler.
  2. Electricity is supplied to the internal winding.
  3. The core and secondary winding are heated.
  4. Heat carrier is heated.

The advantages of making a heating device do it yourself

Induction boilers consume a small amount of electricity, so their maintenance will be quite profitable for the owners. In addition, there are many additional benefits:

  • fast warming up of the heat carrier (within 3-5 minutes);
  • Efficiency in the amount of 95-100% (full conversion of electrical energy into heat);
  • high temperature of heating fluid (from 35 ° C);
  • resistance to scale formation on the inner walls of the device;
  • long service life;
  • no combustion products.

Heaters of this type are found on sale, but they are quite expensive. At the same time for self-assembly induction heater will need not too many details and a minimum of special skills, so you can completely try to do it yourself.

Basic equipment items

Induction type boiler, created at home, will include the following structural elements:

  1. Inductor - the main component of the device, which is a transformer with two windings.
  2. Heating element or core in the form of a pipe with a larger diameter or several pipes of smaller cross-section connected in parallel.
  3. Branch pipes through which the device is cut into the heat network. One of them is used for the supply of liquid to the boiler, and the second - for its supply to the heating system.
  4. Inverter - a device for converting direct electric current into high frequency.

As for the preparation of materials for work, most of them are commercially available, for example, an inductor and elements of reinforcement. The latter can also be made independently by following the drawings placed in the public domain. As an inverter is quite suitable work item welding machine. Especially effective are devices with power control function.

It is important to pay attention to the strength of the current with which the inverter operates. Given that most welding machines have a capacity of 15A, the device will need to be strengthened with the help of wire rod or stainless steel wire with a diameter of about 10 mm. The wire is cut into fragments, which are placed in an electromagnetic field to ensure optimum heating power.

How to assemble an induction pot

To make the case of the device, you should take a thick-walled plastic pipe with a diameter of 50 mm. Depending on the type of heating system, appropriate connections are used to connect the equipment. Prepared wire fragments are placed in the housing. In this case, it is better to lay a fine-meshed metal mesh on the bottom and place the exact same one in the upper part of the body. So the contents will be securely fixed in the primary winding. The resulting billet will be the basis for creating an induction coil.

Copper enameled wire is wound on the workpiece. In total, 90 turns will be needed, which should be placed as accurately and smoothly as possible near the center of the part. The resulting device is installed in the heating system. First you need to drain the coolant out of it and think about where it is best to install the boiler. At this site, you need to mark the pipe and cut a fragment from it that corresponds to the length of the heater. The installation of a homemade induction boiler is being carried out at this place. After connecting the coil to the inverter, the system should be re-filled with coolant.

As soon as the assembly is complete, the device must be tested.This can be done only if there is liquid in the heating device. When the boiler is “dry”, there is a risk of the plastic case melting due to the high temperature and partial destruction of the entire heating system. In addition, it is important to ensure that the heater is properly grounded so that its operation is completely safe.

Features of vortex induction boilers

A separate kind of induction boilers are vortex devices, which also operate from high-frequency voltage and are equipped with an inverter. Their main feature is the absence of a secondary winding. The metal parts of the unit, made of materials with ferromagnetic properties, act as it. As a result, when current is applied to the primary winding of the device, the intensity of the internal electromagnetic field increases.

As the impact of electricity in the device, powerful eddy currents are formed, almost instantly heating up all the ferromagnetic surfaces. Given the smaller number of functional parts, vortex boilers are rather compact, although more difficult due to the use of metal.Anyway, all massive metal elements of the structure are involved in heat exchange, which brings the efficiency of the device to 100%. Thus, it is possible to make a choice in favor of manufacturing a vortex induction boiler, using for this purpose metallic materials instead of plastic materials.

Assembly procedure of the vortex device

Despite certain differences in operation, vortex boilers are made in almost the same manner as classical induction. It is only important to have the skills to perform welding work, since only metal parts will be used. For work you will need:

  • two lengths of a thick-walled metal pipe of the same length but of different diameter (to be connected to each other).
  • enamelled copper winding wire;
  • three-phase inverter (suitable from the welding machine, but with a maximum power);
  • heat insulation casing.

Get to work, starting the process with the manufacture of the body of the future device. Take a pipe of a larger diameter and insert a second part inside. Weld them so that there is some space between the walls of the parts.As a result, the resulting product will be in the context of the wheel. For the manufacture of the cover and base of the case, use a steel sheet with a thickness of 5 mm. So you get a hollow cylindrical boiler tank.

Insert a frame into the shell of the two pipes for cold supply and removal of hot liquid. When configuring nozzles and their diameters, be guided by the size of the heating pipes (you may need adapters). Next, proceed to the winding wire. It should be carefully and with sufficient tension wound on the boiler body.

As in the first case, the coiled wire can be used as a heating element, and the body of the device can be covered with a heat insulation casing. At the expense of it the best thermolysis will be provided. The efficiency of the device will also increase, and its operation will be safer. Now perform the inset of the boiler in the heating system, pre-drain the coolant. Cut a suitable length of the pipe and weld the device to this place.

It remains only to supply power to the heating device and connect the inverter.Before using the device and conducting the first tests, it is necessary to fill the line with coolant. After that, you can do a test run. Run the device at low power and make sure all welds are secure. In the absence of leakage, you can gradually increase the power to the maximum.
